Hinterlands Canal & River Trust

Between 2018- 2020 Director Emma Ghafur has been working as an artist in residence as part of the local 'Hinterlands' programme commissioned by The Canal and Rivers Trust. Working with the Prince of Wales Primary School who have adopted a section of the canal as their own. Through a series of visits and workshops both in class and on-site children are now working towards their own ideas and designs for the canal and how to make a difference. So far workshops have included drawing and clay sculpture as well as a trail of pebbles from the school to the site. Children also designed a temporary exhibition along the canal using sharpies drawn onto brightly corrugated plastic panels - responding to the environment and wildlife. Barge Fiodra supplied a floating workshop space and homemade elderflower water.
